On February 14, 2001, the people of Bahrain came together after a large popular referendum on the National Action Charter, which won 98.4%, after which municipal elections were announced in May 2002 and parliamentary elections in October of the same year. And today, the Kingdom of Bahrain celebrates the fourteenth of each year. On the anniversary of the vote on the Charter, the importance of this occasion is due to the fact that it paved the way for the start of the Bahraini democratic process.

The national consensus of all groups and components of Bahraini society came as a major turning point in the history of the Kingdom and defined the main features of the course of political action, and for two decades under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the country, the sons of Bahrain reaped the fruits of this charter. This was represented in the comprehensive development project of His Majesty the King, where the Kingdom of Bahrain has witnessed qualitative leaps in various political, economic, social and other fields.

The Kingdom of Bahrain is proceeding in its comprehensive and pioneering march with faith and awareness that building on what has been achieved is the way to consolidate the foundations of the civil state based on justice and equality without excluding anyone because of their origin, thought or belief. The Kingdom of Bahrain is always aiming to uphold the values of moderation, tolerance, and coexistence in confronting extremism and intolerance and to promote values of political action based on the principles of the Charter and the Constitution.
