In line with the precautionary measures in countering the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Information & eGovernment Authority launched “BeAware Bahrain” application in collaboration with the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The application aims to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by tracing and keeping track of all active cases and their contacts.
The application uses location data to alert its users when they approach an active case or a location that has been visited by an active case. Also, keeping track of the movement of quarantine cases for a 14-days duration. Last but not least, it highlights global developments of COVID-19 and it publishes health recommendations.
Launching “BeAware Bahrain” came in line with HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister’s directives and national efforts to counter COVID-19. Prior to launching “BeAware Bahrain” app, it went through BETA testing that was performed by real quarantine cases. Registration for quarantined cases is mandatory while in non-quarantined cases they have the option to either register by passport number or ID card number.
“BeAware Bahrain” app is connected to a GPS Tracking Bracelet to share real time-tracking information with health workers through a notification that will be sent to health workers when quarantine cases exit their pre-set area by more than 15 metres, and when this case occur, the team will respond by reminding those individuals to follow the procedures for their safety as well as other citizens and residents safety.
Additionally, the iGA is collaborating with the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus in order to incorporate the best global practices to minimise the impact of COVID-19 and mitigate it’s spread.
