Bahrain’s wait for a major football trophy has finally ended last month on 8th of December 2019. Bahrain national football team has lifted the 24th Gulf Cup in Doha against the Saudi National Football team with approximately 2,000 fans specially flown in for the final. Bahraini fans celebrated the occasion and it was a night to remember for every Bahraini. 

After 0-2 defeat Bahrain suffered against Saudi Arabia, Bahrain won 1-0 in the final against the same opponent. The Bahraini team were very passionate about winning the title, and they showed an astonishing performance that thousands of fans have enjoyed. 

After a thrilling 4-2 victory against Kuwait and a 5-3 victory in the semi-final over Iraq in a penalty shoot-out after an extra-time that ended by a 2-2 draw. Those great games were followed by an even more memorable victory against the Saudi team who are three-time champions of the Gulf cup. 

The Saudi team has now lost in the final four times in the last six editions of the Gulf cup and have not won the title since 2004.  The final was very competitive, Bahrain finally won the title after a great performance. 

Bahrain's national football team Gulf Cup victory has opened  the doors to endless possibilities including qualifying for the World Cup, which is a dream to every Bahraini citizen. 

Gulf Cup winners were welcomed back to Bahrain with a victory parade, which was from Bahrain International Airport to the Bahrain International Circuit. The national football team players, coaches and staff, led by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa celebrated in an open-top bus and showed off the much-awaited trophy with tens of thousands of Bahrainis and fans who were proud of this great achievement.
